Large antique French white opaline glass bowl with gilded stem and gilt encircled decoration.
This pretty fruit-shaped tureen with cover comes with its original scalloped shaped plate.
Opaline glass is a decorative style of glass made in France from 1800s-1890s.
The popularity of opaline glass began during the reign of Napoleon. French cities like Baccarat were involved in the production of it. Most pieces of opaline glass are decorated with gilding like this one.
Most opaline glass is not branded or signed.
