Very pretty set of three 1960s Italian Empoli Rossini and Stelvio Opalina Fiorentina cased glass vases. A high pitcher, vase or decanter and two candy or apothecary jars.

A pretty mixture of different shades of blue in different shapes and styles nicely ribbed and bulbous, in clear and cased or milk glass.

Measurements from highest to lowest:
Large blown ribbed and bulbous apothecary jar with tent shaped lid on high clear base 43cm high, Ø 15cm (16,93"x5.91")
Medium blown bulbous apothecary jar with clear tent shaped lid on clear turned base 34cm high, Ø 14cm (13.39"x5.51")
Blown high deep blue cased glass ribbed pitcher with clear glass handle 32cm high, Ø15cm (12.6"x5.91")

Mention Italian glass and probably everyone’s mind immediately leaps to Venice and Murano.
But there is another almost equally famous centre of Italian glass making known as Empoli in the Florence region.

Empoli's Rossini and Stelvio Opalina Fiorentina glass is generally much simpler and does not have the intricately applied trim or decorations associated with Venetian and Murano pieces.
The simple traditional styles of Empoli glass were quickly adapted to the abstract shapes of mid 20th century modernism. It became hugely popular as a decorative home accent, and was exported across the world.

Now they are highly sought after by international collectors and look beautiful arranged together.
