Highly decorative pair of antique 19th century French hoof shaped candlesticks in cast bronze, marked Soyer et Ingé, Fondeurs.
Very nice greenish patina from almost 200 years of use.
This heavy bronze pair would look great in any style of interior.
They fit a 2,5cm or 2,1cm diameter candle (1" or 0.8")
In 1831 Louis-Claude-Ferdinand Soyer together with Etienne-Germain Inge and his son Charles-Jules established the firm 'Soyer et Ingé Pere et Fils' at 25 Rue de Trois Bornes. In 1836 their foundry mark read Soyer et Ingé, Fondeurs. Like on these candlesticks.
In 1839 they received a gold medal for 'bronzes of art' and they were listed in the Almanach du Commerce as founders in bronze and iron, and dealers and fabricants in bronze.
Inge died in 1844, the firm name and mark became 'Soyer' until 1850.
