A very charming and very large 18th Century hand carved french heavy and dense fruit wood cutting or chopping board with 'shoulders'. In fact the hand carved uneven 'shoulders' make it actually look a little like a slice of bread, a large, thick and heavy slice that is.
This cutting board has seen at least over two centuries of heavy cutting and chopping, on both sides. And it shows in beautiful 'potholes' on both sides of the board. Because of the serious thickness ( 6cm or 2.36") of the board the 'potholes' do not meet in the middle.
This decorative piece is still very practical and would be perfect for a charcuterie and cheese presentation. Because of its shape, the carved design and the obvious antiqueness this would work as decoration in both a rustic or a modern interior.
